Is my dog dehydrated or not?

Dogs can become dehydrated from several things like vomiting or diarrhea, therefore, it is very important to know before you call your veterinarian if you suspect that your dog might be dehydrated.

There are three different ways to check and see if your dog is dehydrated:

  1. The first thing to do is to check the eyes and nose of your dog if they are dry. In fact, a dry nose doesn’t always mean that the dog has a fever it may also mean dehydration.
  2. The second method is the skin tent test; this method consists of checking whether the skin on the back of the neck popped right back or not? If yes, so there is no sign of dehydration, and the opposite is true.
  3. The third way is to check her mucus membranes but be careful not to get bitten, the process how to check it is, lift up her or his lip with one hand, and with the other hand stick your thumb right in between the lip and the gum of tour dog and slide your finger, if it slides around and doesn’t stick to her gums indicates that he or she’s definitely not dehydrated.
